The name "Shoin Juku" comes from ？

the founder of independent learning, Yoshida Shoin sensei （ 1830-1859 ） who taught at "Shokamurajuku" in the late Edo Period.
We have named the school "Shoin Juku" to carry on his teachings.
In December 2017, we built a monument inscribed with "Shouin Juku" next to "Shoukasonjuku", registered as a World Heritage Site,
and recognized as a "Juku to carry on the teachings".

↑ A monument was built next to "Matsushita-murajuku" in Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture ！

*Matsushita-murajuku was established at the end of Edo period （ under Choshu Hagi Castle at the end of Edo period ） （ a private school taught by Yoshida Shoin-sensei in present Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture ） at the end of the Edo Period.
From among its students, the school produced a number of people who laid the foundation of modern Japan, including Shinsaku Takasugi and Genzui Kusaka, who were active in the Meiji Restoration, as well as Prime Ministers Hirobumi Ito and Aritomo Yamagata.

Since our establishment in 1980, we have been supported by local residents as a private tutoring school and now have 250 schools nationwide.

What we have learned from our experience is that unless children have the will to learn by themselves, there will be no dramatic improvement in academic performance.
We also learned that one-way instruction from the instructor only makes the student "think he/she understands," but does not help the student to consolidate knowledge.
Therefore, we have thoroughly reviewed the traditional group instruction ・ and developed a "cram school where children learn by themselves.
This is a shift from "learning from others" to "learning by oneself," made possible by the advent of personal computers and advances in IT technology.

In the future, we will continue to maintain the teaching methods and teachings practiced at Shoukasonjuku by Yoshida Shouin, the "founder of independent learning," from which the school's name is derived, and
revive them in the modern age, and further improve them with the aim of educating human resources who can contribute widely not only to Japan but to the world.
