Kazusa DNA Research Institute Opening Memorial Lecture

Kazusa DNA Research Institute holds lectures for the general public as events commemorating the opening of the institute.
This year, the lecture will be held on October 21 （ Saturday ）, so please join us. Online viewing is also available.

Lecture 1: "Medaka" Bred by Japan and Japanese People － Its Phylogeny ・ Evolution and Genetics －"
Lecturer ： Dr. Kiyoshi Naruse （, Project Professor, National Institute for Basic Biology ）
Medaka fish have been familiar to the Japanese since the Edo period (1603-1868) and have been used as research material since the Meiji period (1868-1912). Unique research has been conducted mainly by Japanese researchers, including studies of genetic diversity in wild populations, identification of sex-determining genes, and determination of the second whole genome sequence in fish. We would like to introduce you to Japan and the Japanese-bred medaka, a laboratory animal.

Lecture 2: "Protecting Children between Genes and Infections: The Present and Future of Pediatric Medicine in Chiba Prefecture"
Lecturer ： Dr. Hirotsu Hamada （ Ipoh University Graduate School of Medicine Professor ）
Pediatric medicine is changing dramatically with the declining birthrate, the spread of vaccines, and the development of fetal diagnosis and neonatal care. In this lecture, I will introduce advances in early detection and treatment of pediatric diseases, including my own research, and discuss the current status and future efforts in Chiba Prefecture.
