This is a notice from Mobara Police Station.
There have been a number of phone calls in Mobara City in which callers claim to be commissioned by a real gas company to inspect water heaters.
Please be aware that such calls may lead to malicious business practices or fraud, such as being charged a hefty fee for inspection, repair, or replacement, or actually being an unnecessary replacement ・ repair.
① Do not trust them even if they say they are "commissioned by the gas company" or "this is a free inspection", hang up the phone once and call the gas company with which you have a contract to confirm.
② Even if you are told that "it is dangerous because it will break if it stays as it is ！ You should replace it now," which may stir up anxiety, do not immediately sign the contract. Ask the water heater installer or contracted gas company to confirm whether repair or replacement is really necessary.
③ I made an appointment over the phone ！ If you want to refuse the inspection but cannot call the contractor or do not know his contact information, you may refuse the inspection after he comes to visit. Use the intercom or otherwise respond without opening the front door.
④ Even if you have signed a contract, you may be able to cool off, so please consult with a consumer center or police station as soon as possible.
⑤ If you are visited suddenly without an appointment, or if you persistently refuse and do not leave, call 110.
Malicious usage and fraudulent tactics are becoming more sophisticated every year.
To avoid being victimized, if you receive such a call or visit, do not make a decision alone, but immediately consult your family, acquaintances, or the Mobara Police Station （ 0475 － 20 － 0110 ）.
