Today, elderly residents in the Kokubu area of Tateyama City have been receiving phone calls from people claiming to be city hall employees and claiming that they have received a refund for their insurance premiums, or that they have not received the application form at the city hall and will call to explain the situation.
These calls are a scam.
Even if the caller claims to be from a government office or financial institution, do not easily trust them and do not give any personal information.
Refund money will never be paid at an ATM.
Hang up on suspicious calls and consult your family or the police.
To prevent damage, set your home landline to answering machine even when you are at home, and do not talk to the person on the other end of the line.
