[STORY]
1971, New York. Eugene ・ Smith, acclaimed as one of America's leading photographers, was now living a rough life, drowning his sorrows in alcohol. Then a woman named Irene asked him to photograph people in Minamata City, Kumamoto Prefecture, who were suffering from the toxic substances discharged into the sea by the Chisso plant. Children who are unable to walk or talk due to mercury poisoning, the intensifying protest movement, and the factory workers who suppress the protests with force. Eugene is startled by the scene, but calmly continues to take photographs, until one incident leads to a dangerous counterattack. Eugene, cornered, makes a proposal to the people living with Minamata disease, and takes a photograph that will change his own life and the world...
