Shirai City Cultural Center Planetarium celebrates its 30th anniversary this year

Always cheerful Yajirishikun, doodles in the whole night sky. Yajirishi-chan's doodles all over the night sky. Let's go on a space trip with a rocket drawn by Yajirishikun. There is also a commentary on the constellations.

May 7, 2025 is exactly 100 years since the first modern planetarium opened to the public. We will introduce the history of planetariums and suggest ways to enjoy planetariums today. There will also be a constellation commentary.

"Farther than the Stars" - Chapter 2: With the Starry Sky, produced by Sendai City Observatory

We will project the program produced by crowdfunding in 2018 to keep the memory of the Great East Japan Earthquake from fading away. It is a documentary about the connection between the starry sky and the victims on the day of the disaster.

We will talk about sparkling astronomical topics with familiar and nostalgic tunes and tonight's starry sky commentary.
In March, we will talk about the "Subaru Eclipse" and in April, we will talk about the "Sun" which is currently in its active phase.

★ Chick Planetarium for infants and families
3/19 (Wed.) ・ 22 (Sat.) and 4/23 (Wed.) ・ 26(土)11:30 ～ 12:00
This program is for young children who have never been to a planetarium before. They can connect the stars and draw pictures of the star-filled sky, listen to music and star stories, and become familiar with the starry sky in a fun atmosphere.
As long as children do not cry, they are welcome to visit the planetarium, so even small children who are a little worried about the dark can come without hesitation.
Admission ： Adults 200 yen, Children free, Tickets available from 11:00 on each day


★ Ninsan Planetarium with Library for adults

This CD concert includes picture book reading and the story of the birth of the stars.
Infants are welcome to enter with the children. （ If they cry, leave the room ）

★ Solving Mysteries at the Planetarium ～ Escape from the Starry Sky 30 Years Ago Junior High School Students ～ For adults
Proven to be fun. This is a real mystery-solving game where you can also learn the secrets of the stars and planetarium while solving the riddles. For those of you who have been thinking "I want to try it, but …", March is your last chance. Don't miss this opportunity ！ You can participate even if you are alone.

Capacity ： 10 pairs per session (each pair can be up to 4 people)
Fee ： 800 yen per person
Reservation Please register by phone or at the counter on the 3rd floor of the Cultural Center (each session closes when capacity is reached).

3/8(Sat.) 18:30 ～ 19:45, 4/12(Sat.) 19:30 ～ 20:45 After the starry sky commentary at the dome, we will watch the actual starry sky at the rooftop of the Cultural Center. In case of rain or cloudy weather, only commentary will be given at the dome.
Eligibility ： Elementary school students ～ Adults (Preschool children are not allowed to participate. (Preschool children are not allowed to participate. Elementary school students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian)
Capacity ： 50 people each day
Reception ： Please come to the entrance on the 1st floor of the library building between 18:05 ～ 18:25 in March and 19:05 ～ 19:25 in April.
*You will not be allowed to enter the library after the reception time.
Admission:Adults ¥200 Free for high school students and younger
